Norfolk County is a municipality located in the province of Ontario, Canada. The capital of the county is Simcoe, a town known for its rich history and vibrant community. The county's history is closely tied to that of its neighbour, Haldimand County, with which it shares a long and intertwined past.
Norfolk was established as a county in 1792, marking the beginning of its rich history. In 1800, Haldimand was formed from a part of Norfolk, further shaping the region's history and development. The two counties remained separate until 1974, when they were united within the regional municipality of Haldimand-Norfolk.
In January 2005, Norfolk County adopted new arms that include natural symbols associated with the county. These symbols are the hooded warbler, the tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), and the dogwood flower. These symbols reflect the county's rich natural heritage and biodiversity.
