Dargun Palace, originally known as Dargun Abbey, is a historical site located in Dargun, Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The site was initially a Cistercian monastery, which was later converted into a palace. The transformation of the monastery into a palace marks a significant shift in the history and function of the site, making it a point of interest for visitors.
One of the key features of the Dargun Palace site is the Gothic abbey church, which was constructed between 1225 and 1270. Further work was done to the choir in 1464. Despite being in ruins today, parts of the choir, nave, and transept of the church still remain. These remnants provide a glimpse into the architectural style and religious practices of the time.
Since 1994, efforts have been made to reconstruct and repair the Dargun Palace site. Today, the buildings house an information bureau and the town library. These facilities provide visitors with valuable resources and information about the site and its history.
