The Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Čunovo in Bratislava, is the first private museum of modern art in Slovakia. The museum was created on the initiative of the Slovak gallery owner Vincent Polakovič, who was financially supported by the Dutch art collector and entrepreneur Gerard Meulensteen. The building plans for the museum are by the architect Peter Žalman. Around the building lies the sculpture garden with a surface of approximately 8,000 square meters, where about 40 different sculptures are presented. Works by Corneille, Constant, Kiro Urdin, Martín Chirino, Miguel Ybanez, Manuel Salinas and the Slovak artists have been exhibited.

Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum Reviews

Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum has 1 rating.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

The Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, located just outside Bratislava, offers a unique blend of modern art and natural beauty. Situated on a peninsula in the Danube River, the museum's striking architecture complements its surroundings. Visitors appreciate the diverse collection of contemporary art, featuring both Slovak and international artists. The outdoor sculpture garden is particularly popular, allowing guests to enjoy art amidst picturesque river views. While many find the exhibits thought-provoking and well-curated, some note that the collection is not extensive and can be explored in a few hours. The museum's remote location is both a pro and a con; it provides a serene setting but can be challenging to access without a car. Some visitors mention that more informative descriptions of the artworks would enhance the experience. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Danubiana is generally regarded as a worthwhile destination for art enthusiasts and those seeking a cultural experience outside the city center.
