The Coquille River Lighthouse, also known as Bandon Lighthouse, is a historic landmark located in Charleston, on the Coquille River, in Coos County, Oregon, United States. It was deactivated in 1939 and is now maintained by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department as part of the Bullards Beach State Park. The lighthouse was first put into service on February 29, 1896, to guide sailors through the dangerous sandbanks of the Coquille River to the port of Bandon.
The Coquille River Lighthouse underwent a major restoration in 1976 due to neglect and vandalism. In 1991, a new solar-powered lamp was installed in the tower, replacing the original Fresnel lens. A new series of renovations was undertaken until 2011 to further preserve and restore the lighthouse. These efforts have ensured that the lighthouse remains a significant historical landmark and a point of interest for visitors.
