The Civic Archaeological Museum "Alle Clarisse" in Ozieri holds a significant place among the museums in Northern Sardinia. It showcases a wide range of artifacts that trace the history of the region from prehistoric times to the modern era. The museum is housed in the former convent of the Clarisse, which adds to its historical charm.
The museum was originally inaugurated in 1985 in a 16th-century Franciscan convent. In 2003, it was moved to the 18th-century former convent of the Recoletas de Santa Clara. This building was specially restored and renovated to house the museum, adding a layer of historical significance to the artifacts on display.
The museum's collections offer a comprehensive overview of the region's history, ranging from the Middle Neolithic (4,900 - 4,400 BC) to the Roman era. Among the artifacts on display are ceramics, a bone mother goddess, a ring, Nuragic basins, and the architrave of the rural church of S. Luca. These artifacts provide a unique insight into the cultures and societies that have shaped the region over thousands of years.
