Château de Chenonceau is a historic castle situated 30 kilometers from Tours, near the village of Chenonceau. It is located on the Cher River in the Indre-et-Loire department, which is part of the renowned Loire Valley in France. The construction of Château de Chenonceau dates back to the period between 1515 and 1521. It was built by Thomas Bohiers, who was the finance secretary to King Francis 1. After the king's death, the castle was given to Diane de Poitiers, the mistress of Francis, by his successor, Henry 2. This historical background adds to the castle's rich heritage.
Since 1913, Château de Chenonceau has been under the ownership of the Menier family, known for their chocolate business. In the 1950s, the family undertook extensive restoration work on the castle following damage caused by the German occupation and a severe flood. This restoration has ensured the preservation of the castle's historical features for visitors to enjoy today.
