The lighthouse is located on Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Genesee River.

The Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse is currently owned by Monroe County and is managed as a museum by the Charlotte Genesee Lighthouse Historical Society. Reactivation and Current Function of the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse
