La Capilla del Arte is a cultural space of the Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP), located in the Historic Center of the city of Puebla, Mexico. It was opened to the public in October 2009, in the old building of Las Fábricas de Francia, granted in commodatum by the Mary Street Jenkins Foundation. The space includes a contemporary art gallery, an artistic forum, and a mini reading space.
The space of La Capilla del Arte includes a contemporary art gallery, an artistic forum, and a mini reading space. The gallery is mainly dedicated to contemporary or current art. The reading area offers titles from different authors and topics, such as from the Mexican writer Elena Poniatowska.
Since its opening, La Capilla del Arte has presented several exhibitions. It was inaugurated with the exhibition 'The implications of the image', composed of more than 80 pieces by foreign and Mexican artists such as Gabriel Orozco, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Daniela Rosell, and Teresa Margolles. For its fifth anniversary, in October 2014, it inaugurated the exhibition 'The Rupture and its antecedents' with works from the so-called Generation of the Rupture of Mexican art, as well as pieces from the Mexican muralists, Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros.
