The Center for Jewish History in New York City is a unique collaboration of five organizations dedicated to Jewish history, scholarship, and art. These include the American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute New York, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research. Each organization brings a different perspective and approach to Jewish history and culture, making the center a rich and diverse resource for visitors.

More Than Just a Museum

The Center for Jewish History is not just a museum, but also a hub for scholarly research, events, exhibitions, and performances. Within the center, visitors can explore the Lillian Goldman Reading Room, the Ackman & Ziff Family Genealogy Institute, and the Collection Management & Conservation Wing. Vast and Diverse Collections

The collections at the Center for Jewish History are vast and diverse, comprising over 100 million documents, 500,000 books, and thousands of art objects, textiles, ritual objects, music, films, and photographs. These materials, previously housed in the member institutions, were at risk of damage or destruction. Now, they are preserved and accessible to the public in the center.
