Château d'Excideuil is a historical castle located in Excideuil, Dordogne, Aquitaine, France. It has a rich history dating back to the eleventh and twelfth centuries, making it a significant landmark in the region.
During the Hundred Years' War, the Château d'Excideuil underwent several changes in control. After resisting an assault in 1346, it fell under British occupation in 1351. It was liberated in 1356, only to be returned to the English in 1360 under the Treaty of Bretigny. However, it was retaken by the troops of Du Guesclin in 1370.
In the last quarter of the 20th century, the Château d'Excideuil underwent major renovations under the ownership of the Naudet family. These renovations have helped to preserve the castle's historical integrity and make it a fascinating site for visitors today.
