The Leonida Repaci Cultural Center, also known as Casa della cultura Leonida Repaci, is a multifunctional building located in Palmi, in the Italian province of Reggio Calabria. The center was officially opened on January 17, 1982, and serves as a hub for various cultural institutions and activities.
The Leonida Repaci Cultural Center is home to several institutions, adding to its cultural significance. One of its notable features is a large garden that showcases bronze statues and two Roman columns. These columns are from the archaeological site of the ancient city of Tauriana, providing a glimpse into the region's rich history.
The pinacotheca at the Leonida Repaci Cultural Center boasts a collection of over 200 artworks. These were generously donated by Leonida Repaci and his wife Albertina to the municipality. The collection is diverse, featuring both paintings and sculptures. It includes works from renowned artists such as Édouard Manet, Guercino, Tintoretto, Renato Guttuso, Giovanni Fattori, Amedeo Modigliani, and Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot.
The Raffaele Corso Ethnographic Museum, established in 1955, is another institution housed within the Leonida Repaci Cultural Center. The museum showcases objects from daily life, religious practices, and Calabrian folklore, offering visitors a unique insight into the local culture. The museum has been recognized by UNESCO as a museum of international importance, further highlighting its cultural significance.
