The Canary Cetacean Museum, which was inaugurated on April 22, 2005, was situated in the beautiful location of Lanzarote, part of the Canary Islands. The museum was established with the aim of promoting knowledge, conservation, and research of the Canary Islands' natural heritage through the study of cetaceans. It served as a platform for discovery, respect, and sensitivity towards the environment in general, and the marine environment in particular.
Unique Focus of the Museum
The Canary Cetacean Museum was a pioneer in its field, being the first museum in Spanish territory dedicated exclusively to cetaceans. It was also one of the few institutions worldwide that collected and displayed information on oceanic species.
