Bremnes fort, located in Bodø municipality in Nordland, served as a German coastal fort during World War II. It was a part of the German Atlantic Wall, a defensive system built to prevent an Allied invasion. After the war, it was taken over by the Norwegian coastal defense.
While the cannons that once fortified Bremnes fort have been removed, all of the original positions remain intact. This allows visitors to get a sense of the fort's original layout and strategic design.
The Bodø War Historical Museum is currently responsible for the maintenance of Bremnes fort. They offer tours for those interested in learning more about the fort's history and its role during World War II.
