The Boston National Historical Park is a collection of sites that highlight Boston's significant role in the American Revolution and other historical events. The park was officially designated as a national park on October 1, 1974.
Seven out of the eight sites within the Boston National Historical Park are connected by the Freedom Trail, a walking tour that takes you through downtown Boston. All eight properties within the park are recognized as National Historic Landmarks.
The Charlestown Navy Yard, located on the southern edge of Charlestown along the banks of the Charles River, houses the USS Constitution, the oldest floating commissioned naval vessel in the world, and the USS Cassin Young, a destroyer from the Second World War that is now operated as a museum ship.
In addition to managing its properties within the park, the National Park Service operates visitor centers at Faneuil Hall (1st Floor) and at the Navy Yard. The service also offers guided tours of the Freedom Trail.
