The Borda House, situated in the historic center of Mexico City, was once the property of José de la Borda, a Frenchman who was among the wealthiest individuals in New Spain during the 18th century. This location is steeped in history and offers a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the era.
The original Borda House was renowned for its distinctive architectural features. These included sculpted stone decorative details on the ground floor and an ironwork balcony that encircled the entire building. The exterior was adorned with red tezontle rock and grey white sandstone, adding to its unique aesthetic appeal.
Of the remaining plots of the Borda House, number 26 on the Bolivar side is the only one that retains all the original interiors from the 18th century. While the other plots have been demolished, their façades still stand, preserving a piece of the building's historical charm.
