The Grube Silberhardt, located in Öttershagen, a district of Windeck, is a historical ore mine that was reopened as a visitor mine on September 13, 2003. This site offers a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the history and workings of a former ore mine.
In July 2011, the association for the preservation of mining and smelting tradition opened a new visitor and information center at Grube Silberhardt. This center provides comprehensive information about the mine's history and the mining and smelting traditions of the region.
In 2017, the mining history exhibition at Grube Silberhardt was greatly expanded and reopened. The exhibition not only covers the history of the mine, but also delves into the broader context of Siegerland mining and the social situation of the miners. Additionally, it features a collection of ores and minerals.

Besucherbergwerk Grube-Silberhardt has 1 rating.
Besucherbergwerk Grube-Silberhardt in Windeck, Germany, offers visitors an authentic underground mining experience. The guided tours provide insight into the history of silver mining in the region. Visitors appreciate the knowledgeable guides who explain the mining techniques and working conditions of the past. The mine's cool temperature and damp environment add to the realistic atmosphere. Some reviewers mention that the tour can be physically demanding, with narrow passages and uneven terrain, which might not be suitable for everyone. The museum section above ground complements the underground tour with additional information and artifacts. While the site is interesting for those curious about mining history, some visitors note that the experience might be brief for the admission price. Overall, Besucherbergwerk Grube-Silberhardt is generally well-regarded for its educational value and unique experience, though it may not appeal to all tourists.
