The Begas Haus is the Museum for Art and Regional History in Heinsberg. It is named after the Begas family, a lineage of artists who were active over four generations. The patriarch of the family, Carl Joseph Begas, was born in Heinsberg in 1794. The museum is a testament to the family's artistic legacy and the regional history of Heinsberg.
The Begas Haus is home to two permanent exhibitions. One of these is the largest nationwide collection of paintings, sculptures, and graphics by the Begas family. The other exhibition showcases historical objects and documents, valuable Christian treasure art, and furniture from past centuries. These exhibits are all presented in context with the life and work of the Begas family, providing a comprehensive understanding of their influence and contribution to art and regional history.
