Bedwellty House, named for the parish in which it stood, is a rare early 19th Century ironmaster’s residence, full of historic significance and elegant charm, and is now an iconic centrepiece for the town of Tredegar. In its two-hundred-year history, Bedwellty House and its residents witnessed the rise and fall of the iron industry as well as revolutionising influences ranging from Chartism and social reform to the far-reaching effects of both European and American wars and the creation of the National Health Service. You can explore the house and gardens with out self-led tour which brings Tredegar’s rich story to life and is free to use.
