This year is the anniversary year of the Bauhaus art movement. Founded in 1919 in Weimar, the Bauhaus moved to Dessau in 1925, where it had its heyday. In 1932, the artist school was moved to Berlin, where it closed its doors for good a year later. To mark 100 years of the Bauhaus, a new Bauhaus Museum is being built in Dessau. Museum Bauhaus in Dessau will open its doors on September 8, 2019 with an extraordinary collection of over 50,000 designs from the Bauhaus movement, one of the largest collections worldwide.

The Bauhaus Dessau is a significant cultural landmark that offers visitors an immersive experience into the world of modernist architecture and design. Located in Dessau-Roßlau, Germany, this museum is housed in the iconic Bauhaus building, which itself is a masterpiece of 20th-century architecture.

Visitors consistently praise the museum for its well-preserved interiors and the opportunity to see firsthand the principles of Bauhaus design. The building's innovative use of space, light, and materials is frequently highlighted as a standout feature. Many appreciate the guided tours, which provide insightful information about the Bauhaus movement, its founders, and its lasting impact on modern design.

The exhibition spaces are noted for their thoughtful curation, showcasing original furniture, artworks, and design objects from the Bauhaus era. This allows visitors to gain a comprehensive understanding of the school's philosophy and its practical applications.

However, some visitors mention that the information provided in English could be more extensive, which might limit the experience for non-German speakers. A few reviewers also note that the museum can get crowded, especially during peak seasons, which might affect the viewing experience.

The museum's café, located in the original Bauhaus canteen, receives mixed reviews. While some enjoy the atmosphere and the opportunity to dine in a historic setting, others find the menu options limited and prices slightly high.

Overall, the Bauhaus Dessau is widely regarded as an essential visit for anyone interested in architecture, design, or 20th-century cultural history. Its historical significance, coupled with the well-maintained exhibits and the opportunity to experience Bauhaus principles firsthand, make it a valuable destination for both casual visitors and design enthusiasts.
