The Bajuwarenhof Kirchheim museum is a reconstructed Merovingian farmstead. The reconstruction is based on archaeological findings, predominantly from the Munich region. The museum does not follow an original in place but is based on the knowledge gained from archaeological excavations, especially in the Munich gravel plain.
The museum grounds of Bajuwarenhof Kirchheim include a herb and wildflower meadow, marking the beginning of the actual farm area. There is also a herb garden planted with kitchen and medicinal herbs, useful plants, and some old vegetable varieties. A trial field was established in April 2005, where crops and grain varieties documented for the 6th and 7th centuries are grown.
