The Avery County Historical Museum, originally known as the Avery County Jail, is a historic site located in Newland, Avery County, North Carolina. This unique museum was once a functioning jail, providing a unique glimpse into the past.
The Avery County Historical Museum was built in 1913 and was designed by the architects Wheeler & Runge. The building is a beautiful example of Italianate style architecture, a popular design style during the 19th century.
