Aur prestegard, situated just west of Aurskog cemetery, is a site steeped in history. The church site and the parsonage both date back to the Middle Ages. However, the current church was built in 1881, and the oldest building on the parsonage dates back to 1703. This gives visitors a glimpse into the architectural styles and building techniques of different periods.
The oldest building on the Aur prestegard parsonage has a rich history. Originally serving as a parsonage residence, it was repurposed as a tenant farmer's residence in 1856 when a new parsonage residence was constructed. This change in use over time reflects the evolving social and economic conditions of the period.
The Aur prestegard parsonage continued to serve as a parsonage residence until 1991, when a new residence was provided for the priest. Today, a foundation manages the former parsonage, which is now used for cultural purposes. Several of the buildings on the site have been restored in the 2000s, ensuring their preservation for future generations to appreciate.
