The Augusteum is home to the “Gallery of Old Masters” of the State Museum for Art and Cultural History Oldenburg. This gallery showcases a vast collection of masterpieces from Dutch, Italian, German, and French painters dating from the 15th to the 18th centuries. The Augusteum underwent extensive renovations from 2013 to 2015, ensuring that the building was preserved and restored to its original grandeur. Since December 2015, it has been open to the public as the “Gallery of Old Masters” of the State Museum. This renovation has allowed the museum to continue its mission of preserving and showcasing the rich artistic heritage of the region.
