The Athens City Museum was founded in 1973 and is housed in the first royal palace of Greece, consisting of two mansions. The museum is dedicated to the history of the city and holds and exhibits objects collected by art collector Lambros Eutaxias (1905-1996), artifacts illustrating the rise and fall of antic Athens. The collection includes antiquities, Byzantine art, sculptures, paintings, drawings, metal, glass and textile works photographs and furniture arranged as in the 19th century.
