The Asker museum, also known as Valstads samlinger, is a cultural history museum. It is situated in Hvalstaddalen, which is also referred to as Kunstnerdalen, in Hvalstad in the Asker municipality. This location is known for its rich cultural history and is a part of the Akershusmuseet.
The Asker museum was established based on a gift letter dated June 9, 1949, from Tilla and Otto Valstad to Asker municipality. They transferred their property, Øvre Hvalstad, along with all its buildings, inventory, tools, and art. This included a collection of more than 3000 items they had collected, including houses they had moved to the property from both the local area and from other places in the country.
The Asker museum is home to a garden designed in a baroque-like style. This garden features rare plants, a fountain, and animal sculptures by the sculptor Anne Grimdalen. Additionally, the garden showcases fine wrought ironwork, adding to its unique charm.
