Artspace was a contemporary art gallery and non-profit organization situated in downtown New Haven, Connecticut. However, it closed its physical location in June 2023 and announced plans to continue operations remotely. This means that while the physical gallery is no longer open, the organization continues to contribute to the art scene.
The Lot is a pocket park and public art space owned by Artspace, located near the former location of Artspace at 812 Chapel Street, which is also the site of a busy bus stop. Since 1999, Artspace has been presenting temporary art installations in this space, and in 2005, it was redeveloped as a dedicated art space. This means that even though Artspace's physical gallery is closed, The Lot continues to serve as a public art space.
