La Casa de las Artesanías de Michoacán is a public cultural organization and craft exhibition venue located in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico. Founded in 1972, it focuses on the preservation and dissemination of traditional folk art crafted in the various sociocultural regions of Michoacán. The institution is housed in a 16th-century former convent in the historic center of Morelia, where the craft pieces are displayed and also offered for sale.
The main traditional crafts of Michoacán are made by the descendants of the Purépecha culture. These include wood carving in towns like Pátzcuaro, Cuanajo, and Quiroga; hammered copper in Santa Clara del Cobre; basketry in Tzintzuntzan; pottery in Capúla, Patámban, and Ocumicho; and lutherie in Paracho. These crafts reflect the rich cultural heritage and artistic skills of the local communities.
