The Archaeological Museum of Peccioli, inaugurated in 2004, is housed in the Palazzo Fondi Rustici in Piazza del Carmine since 2007. This location is one of the most important buildings in the historic center of Peccioli, also known as “della Fattoria”, built near the castle walls and incorporating one of its quadrangular towers on one side.
The museum is situated on the ground floor of the Palazzo Fondi Rustici, in spaces that were originally used as cellars and warehouses for agricultural equipment. Additionally, there are two rooms on the upper floor, which were originally used for storing cereals. These rooms are accessible through a small internal courtyard, adding to the unique charm of the museum.
The exhibits in the museum are organized in a chronological manner and are divided into three sections. Each of these sections is dedicated to the sites from which the displayed artifacts were excavated. This layout provides a comprehensive overview of the history of the region, spanning two millennia, from the archaic age to the late Middle Ages.
