The Aptucxet Trading Post Museum, located in Bourne, Massachusetts, is a small open-air historical museum. Its main attraction is a replica of the 17th-century Aptucxet Trading Post. This post was originally built by the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony with the aim of facilitating trade with the Wampanoag Indians and the Dutch.
In addition to the replica of the trading post, the museum also showcases a replica of a 19th-century saltworks, the relocated 19th-century Gray Gables Railroad Station, and a wooden smock windmill. These exhibits provide a glimpse into the historical lifestyle and industrial activities of the region.
The museum is also home to the original station building of the now-defunct Gray Gables Railroad Station. This station was built in 1892 near President Grover Cleveland's summer home, Gray Gables, and even had a direct telegraph line to Washington, D.C. The station ceased operations in the 1940s and was bought by the Bourne Historical Society in 1976. It was moved to the Aptucxet Trading Post Museum in 1977 and underwent renovation in 2014.
