The Glomdalsmuseet in Elverum is a cultural history museum dedicated to the regions of Solør and Østerdalen. It is recognized as one of the largest open-air museums in Norway, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural history of these regions in an immersive outdoor setting.

Romani People's History

One of the key roles of the Glomdalsmuseet is to disseminate the history of the Romani people, also known as the Taters, in Norway. The museum provides a valuable resource for understanding the culture, history, and experiences of this ethnic group within the Norwegian context.

History of the Forest Finns

The Glomdalsmuseet also places a significant emphasis on the history of the Forest Finns. These were people from Savolax and Tavastland in Finland who settled in the forest areas of Sweden and Norway between 1575 and 1660. The museum provides an in-depth look into their lifestyle, culture, and impact on the region.
