The Anabaptist Museum in Niedersulz, opened in 2008, is a unique institution in Austria. It is the first museum in the country to feature a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of the Hutterites and Anabaptists, with a particular focus on the regions of Weinviertel and South Moravia. This makes it a significant destination for those interested in religious history and the cultural heritage of these regions.
The Anabaptist Museum offers a comprehensive insight into the history of the Anabaptists, tracing their paths in Weinviertel and the adjacent South Moravia. Visitors can appreciate the high craftsmanship of the Anabaptists through various exhibits, including Habaner ceramics. The museum also documents the persecution of the Hutterites through various installations. Additionally, excerpts from the Falkensteiner song, which is still sung today, are presented, providing a unique cultural experience.
In 2017, the museum added a "Hutterite Vegetable Garden" to its premises. This garden showcases the typical crops cultivated by the Anabaptists in Weinviertel and South Moravia. It provides a tangible connection to the agricultural practices of the Anabaptists, enhancing the overall museum experience.
