The historic Travemünde Lighthouse, constructed in 1827, is a significant technical and architectural monument. It no longer functions as a sea mark but has been transformed into a museum. The lighthouse, made of red brick and built in a classicist style, stands at a height of 31 meters. It is a symbol of Travemünde, along with the Passat, and is open for visitors to explore.

Travemünde Lighthouse Museum

Since 2004, the Travemünde Lighthouse has been a museum, showcasing historical maritime signs and equipment from lightships and lighthouses. Visitors can explore eight floors filled with models of fire ships, sea lanterns, and lighting systems from other lighthouses. The top floor, accessible via 142 steps, houses the functional installation of the old Travemünde Lighthouse with its 1000-watt light bulbs.

The Alter Leuchtturm Travemünde, or Old Travemünde Lighthouse, is a popular attraction in Lübeck, Germany. This historic lighthouse, dating back to 1539, offers visitors a glimpse into maritime history and stunning views of the Baltic Sea and Travemünde beach.

Visitors appreciate the well-preserved structure and the opportunity to climb to the top. The 142 steps can be challenging for some, but most find the panoramic views from the observation deck worth the effort. The lighthouse provides informative displays about its history and function, which many find educational.

The location of the lighthouse is particularly praised, with its proximity to the beach and promenade making it an ideal spot for a visit during a seaside walk. Many visitors enjoy combining their lighthouse tour with exploring the surrounding area and watching ships enter and leave the harbor.

Some visitors note that the entrance fee is reasonable, considering the experience and views offered. However, a few mention that the interior space is limited, which can lead to crowding during peak times.

While most reviews are positive, some visitors feel that the historical information provided could be more extensive. Additionally, accessibility can be an issue for those with mobility limitations due to the steep stairs.

Overall, the Alter Leuchtturm Travemünde is generally regarded as a worthwhile stop for those interested in maritime history or seeking panoramic views of the Baltic coastline.
