Exhibition 'ShuShu Sieberns – Young Human' in Foam Photography Museum Amsterdam
As a part of Queer & Pride Amsterdam 2024, Foam is excited to present the Foam 3h exhibition Young Human by ShuShu Sieberns. Her work is an ode to queerness and focusses on the conflicting perspective of the artist’s traditional Russian family, especially in her relationship with her deeply religious grandmother. Young Human is a personal journey and visualizes how the artist tries to create a bridge between two different worlds and wants these two cultures to coexist. The exhibition features an installation referencing the living room of ShuShu’s grandmother.
Young Human serves as a poignant exploration of the artist’s internal conflict. The films and photos in the exhibition tie together her queer identity and the influence of her grandmother. ShuShu is an artist who does not limit herself solely to photography: she uses film, photography, poetry and performance to convey her ideas. In Young Human she applies this multimedia approach by recreating the familiar atmosphere she always experienced at her grandmother’s house.
