Exhibition 'Riches to Ribbons' in Whitchurch Silk Mill
Our Riches to Ribbons exhibition will showcase our stunning collection of silk ribbons woven in a creative collaboration with Jane Austen’s House. See the ribbons come to life, from initial inspirations and designs, to step by step of the production methods used here at the Mill.
The exhibition will delve into the history of critically endangered craft, Silk Ribbon Weaving. It will look at the place silk ribbons once played in fashion history, the lives of those who wore them and the lives of those who wove them. There will also be the chance to see our ribbon ‘wall of fame’ featuring well-known TV films and dramas where our silk ribbons have ended up.
Visiting us during this time will be a great way to immerse yourself in one of the many events commemorating the 250th Anniversary of Jane Austen.
