I have just visited the David Livingston Visitor Centre and was shocked at the condition of the iconic bronze statue of Livingston and the Lion. I understand that a great deal of money is being spent on refurbishing the presently closed museum and it is a shame that a relatively small amount of money has not been spent on maintaining the statue which greets all visitors as they park their cars, Any foreign visitors will be appalled that, what should be, an example of Scottish pride in its positive influence in Africa is shamefully neglected.
